The first 100 families in attendance will receive a resource bracelet that is pre-loaded with prevention materials on the USB thumb drive. Please support this very important program by attending on April 13 from 6-7pm in the DMHS Auditorium, 12575 E. Via Linda. Wildland in the Park is a new, family-friendly event that will educate residents about common issues found in urban interface areas, where homes and businesses are built into the natural desert environment. Some of the common issues unique to these areas include brush fires, desert wildlife, invasive plants and hiking safety.

Scottsdale Fire Department will offer interactive exhibits including wildland firefighting apparatus such as the brush truck, tanker and a specially equipped off-road vehicle, along with personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools. Children will also have the opportunity to participate in fire exit drills and learn more about fire and injury prevention.

Liberty Wildlife, a non-profit organization that rehabilitates native wildlife, will provide a variety of exhibits, such as snakes, desert turtles and a Gila monster, along with educational materials.

Additional information from the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy on local hiking trails, invasive plants, and wildfire prevention will also be available.
