** On year-to-year basis, the median home price for the Valley dipped to $240,000 in November compared with $259,000 in November 2006, a drop of 7.9 percent, the lowest monthly median since May 2005.
In Scottsdale the median price declined 13.5 percent to $544,645 from November 2007 to November 2006. Median prices for Scottsdale over the past two years have fluctuated from a high of $640,000 in June 2006 to $535,000 in September 2007.
The national median existing-home price for all housing types was $207,800 for October, down 5.1 percent from October 2006.
** In 2007, 22 restaurants in Scottsdale were selected to receive Wine Spectators 'Award of Excellence' for their wine lists.
** Scottsdale-based Alanco Technologies, Inc. recently announced its subsidiary was awarded a pilot contract to demonstrate a new system at a high security government facility to monitor water contaminants and radioactive materials. A solar power feature allows the units to be located virtually anywhere on earth.
The new remote monitoring system is capable of continuously sampling a wide variety of environmental variables and transmitting data to a central monitoring authority at a lower cost compared to current sampling and transport practices for remote locations.
** Grunberg Realty in New York City paid $54 million, or $215 per sqare foot for the Scottsdale Executive Office Park, a 251,588-sf complex located at Via de Ventura and Hayden Road. The seller bought the property in March 2006 for $47.93 million from a private investor who had acquired it six months earlier for $37 million.
** Scottsdale-based Five Star Development is developing a 'green center' in El Paso, Texas. The 2.1 million-sf mixed use development is considered by Five Star to be a prototype for other green/LEED certified developments.
